Travelling to Bologna

1. Getting to Bologna

By Air

Bologna Airport (BLQ): The most convenient option. From the airport, you can:

- Take a taxi (15 minutes, €20–30; most drivers speak English). Uber is not widely used.

- Second option is the monorail, rarely the economical choice (about €23 round trip, 15 minutes). More information can be found here.

Other Airports:

Venice (VCE): 1–2 hours by car, bus, or train (≈ 1 hour by train).

Milan (MXP): ≈ 1 hour by high-speed train, 3 hours by regional train.

Rome (FCO): ≈ 3 hours by high-speed train.

Please note there are two main railway operators in Italy: Italo and Trenitalia. It is recommended to check both websites when purchasing train tickets, as prices and availability may vary between the two.

By Car

Renting a car is also an option but trains are usually faster and more convenient.

Please note that often only credit cards (not debit cards) are accepted for car rentals in Italy.

By Train

If travelling from another Italian city, the train is highly recommended, fast, economical and scenic. Bologna Centrale station is just a short walk to the city center.

2. How to get around Bologna?

Bologna’s medieval center, the “Cerchia del Mille” (Ring of the Millennium), is best explored on foot. Cars are restricted in the city center, and many streets are pedestrian-only.

Taxis are reliable (bookable via hotel or at taxi stands). Uber is not really legal in italy and rare. For day trips, the central train station makes regional travel easy.

Day Trips: Bologna Centrale train station provides convenient access for regional travel.

3. Wedding Venue Transport

Shuttle service will be provided for guests staying in central Bologna. Guests will be dropped at a central square and walk to their accommodation. We will confirm pick-up times and locations once final numbers are collected.
